| Donald Nason |
Donald honorably served in the United States Air Force for eight years as a Staff Sergeant and Air Rescue in the Vietnam War.
Don was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed duck hunting with his black lab, Lady. He had a green thumb, with flower, vegetable and glorious rose gardens in New Hampshire and Florida.
He loved playing the harmonica with jamming groups, friends, family and Charlie McCoy, his professional idol. He had a large collection of harmonicas, old and new. Don belonged to the Fort Myers Florida Harmonica Club.
Don is survived by his wife of 39 years, his true love, Dorna Jewell Nason. Together they enjoyed the passions of the gold mining and metal detecting clubs they established with many enthusiasts from New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York. They also enjoyed many camping outings throughout New England with their comrades.
Donald was self-employed as a cabinetmaker, producing specialty orders for Belletete’s and intricate custom orders for many other building contractors. Donald worked as the Maintenance Supervisor at The Good Shepard Nursing Home for eight years before retiring to Englewood in 2001. He then became maintenance supervisor for Grande Island Vacation Resorts in Boca Grande, wearing endless hats with his happy and knowledgeable “Mr. Fix-It” attitude.
He loved to play golf with friends, and was good at it. He only wished that he had started playing the game at a younger age so that he could have become a professional.
Donald will be sadly missed by his wife, family and friends. He is survived by a brother, Clifford, a daughter, Lori-Anne Esparza of Texas, two sons, Andrew and Alan of Petersborough, N.H., daughter Amy Ogert of Englewood, daughter-in-law Jennifer McCall of Petersborough, N.H., brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nephews and nieces, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The Neptune Society Cremation Services in Ft. Myers made the prearrangements for the Nason family. A memorial service for Donald is planned for early January of 2013 at the beautiful Boca Grande Island Resort. The date will be announced.
