Obituary: Russell A. Smith

Russell A. Smith, 85, Boca Grande, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Englewood Health and Rehab Center in Englewood.

Born May 31, 1927, in Reynoldsville, Penn., he was a son of the late Farmer and Alma Burkett Smith. He was married to Deloris A. Gibson Dec. 23, 1950. She survives him.

Russell was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Reynoldsville. He was a partner in Sugarhill Limestone Company and also the owner of Farmer Smith’s Greenhouse in Brookville.

He is also survived by one daughter, MaryJo Shaffer, of Boca Grande employed by Gasparilla Properties; and two grandsons, Noah William Shaffer and Erik Russell Shaffer, both of DuBois; two brothers, John B. Smith and Clyde N. Smith, both of Reynoldsville.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Daugherty; and a brother, Warren H. Smith.

Funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery.
