Eleanor Camille Hoffman Cawthon, 71, of Pine Harbor, Ga. died April 13, 2013 at her home. A visitation was held on April 17 in Brunswick, Ga.
Mrs. Cawthon was born October 21, 1941 in Boca Grande.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years and six months, Edward Grover Cawthon; three sons, Gary (Heather) of Yulee, Andrew, Warrenton, Va., Thomas of Savannah, Ga., and one daughter Dr. Lara Bailey (William) of Pine Harbor; and five grandchildren.
Camille was a loving, generous wife and mother, who enjoyed raising her children and working in the nursery and children's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School in the churches she served over the years. Those churches most recently included Isle of Hope Baptist Church in Savannah, and Shellman Bluff Baptist.
She enjoyed teaching children and adults crafts, including ceramics and crochet. She traveled the world with her husband, wherever the job took them. Her daughter Lara was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands; son Andrew was born in Liverpool, England; the oldest and youngest boys were born in New Jersey.
In 1985 Camille christened what was at the time the largest container ship in the world, the “American Nebraska,” on her maiden voyage to Savannah.
She lived a life of grace and humility, and endured a long illness with dignity and calm.
