Donald James Nason, 69, from Englewood and formerly of Jaffrey, N.H., died of pulmonary fibrosis on July 24. He was born in Winthrop, Mass. on Jan. 15, 1943, to James F. Nason and Amelia (Allaire) Nason of Petersborough, N.H., where he grew up.

Donald honorably served in the United States Air Force for eight years as a Staff Sergeant and Air Rescue in the Vietnam War.

Edith Goodwin Silcox of Boca Grande was released from her earthly bonds to be with her heavenly father on July 29 at the age of 81.

Daughter of Scottish immigrants, Harry and Christina Goodwin, she was born the third of six children on May 7, 1931 in Medford, Mass. On June 25, 1949 she came to Boca Grande to marry the love of her life, Jack Silcox, who preceded her in death in 2001. Edith’s passing on Jack’s birthday shows their eternal love and bond.

She is survived by daughters, Jackie (Kerry) Fogarty of Englewood, Florida and Rebecca (Leif) Marten of Excelsior, Minnesota; foster daughter, Ruth Levins Mixon of Arcadia, Florida; 4 grandchildren; 2 foster grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edith was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Boca Grande and a well-known resident of the island.

A memorial/life celebration service will be held on Saturday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Boca Grande.

James C. Baer, age 56, beloved husband of Sharon L. Santino passed away July 18th at Englewood Community Hospital. Jim was born April 19, 1956 in Chester County, Pa. to Raymond A. and Mary T. (Deeney) Baer, Sr.

Jim was a member and an employee of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3885 of Englewood, Florida. Prior to that Jim spent many years in both the construction and tile setting trades.

John L. Montgomery, 92, of Naples and Venice, died July 13, 2012.

John was born January 11, 1920 in New Orleans, La. to Elizabeth (Walpole) and William Montgomery. John operated the Temptation Restaurant in Boca Grande.

Survivors include three children: Karen Scileny of Naples, Richard Montgomery of Orlando, and Maureen Henry of Sarasota; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, July 20 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 21 at Epiphany Cathedral with burial immediately following at Venice Memorial Gardens.
