BY LIZA STROUT - State Representative Ray Rodrigues visited Gasparilla Island on Saturday to have a first-hand look at the seawall at the south end of the island.

Some of the first sea turtle numbers from Coastal Wildlife Club patrol numbers are in, and it looks as though the year is off to a promising start.

The Barrier Island Parks Society, in cooperation with Lee County Parks and Recreation summer day camps, hosted Edward Winn as he presented his soon-to-be released book, “Gone but not Forgotten Mighty Calusa Indians.” The presentation will be held in the Boca Grande Community Center on Wednesday, June 5 at 10 a.m.

On Wednesday, May 29, Gasparilla Island State Park installed the Mobi-Mat (beach mat) at the Range Light parking area.
