With more than 3 million anglers in the state, it is likely you either know someone who fishes, or you are someone who fishes. Either way, Florida’s license-free fishing days are the perfect venue to try your hand or introduce a friend to some of the finest fishing in the world.
The Boca Grande Art Alliance held their annual Valentine's Show this weekend, and some of the island's finest artists were in attendance.
Last week, the Boca Grande United Methodist Church kicked off its 29th year of serving pancake breakfasts to the community. Several hundred people enjoyed grits, eggs, sausage, toast, pancakes, juice and coffee. Some 40 volunteers helped prepare and serve the breakfasts.
Sauce from the old country ... not exactly, but it’s the delicious spaghetti, sauce, garlic bread, salad and desserts that have been an island favorite for over two decades at the Louise duPont Crowninshield Community House.
BY MARCY SHORTUSE - People have been using the Gilchrist Avenue median for parking for years, and it seems to many that it has become a necessity for church services, pancake breakfasts and bridge club meetings. But the original idea behind Gilchrist Avenue was to present a gateway to the beautiful village of Boca Grande, and through meticulous landscaping that is what it once was.
This week’s island activities re-affirm the old adage, “When it rains, it pours.” And season is just getting started.
